The other night on Project Runway the judges totally dismissed a cool, artsy look. They said that orange and blue was a terrible color combination. I wore a Liz Claiborne orange dress with blue stripes to the reception of my senior art show back in '83. So..I like orange and blue. Therefore I just had to make something using those colors. The heart circle Photoshop brushes are by my friend BSilvia at Graphics Illustrations.

Irish Spiral Heart Business Card
This Irish Spiral Heart was one of the very first hearts I drew for the heArt-a-Day blog and it remains to be one of the most popular. Someone just asked if I would sell them the image to use on their business cards, so I whipped these up on Zazzle since I don't just sell my images anymore. It's a LOT less expensive for anyone who might want to use my images to go through my Zazzle shop rather than pay me outright for the image anyway.
I like how this looks on the green background so much I may have to get some for myself.

Steampunk Heart Watch Design
Next week's Spoonflower fabric design contest has a Steampunk theme. This is the main element but I have still to fill in the rest of the design. Stay tuned...
If you want to vote for my "Love" fabric which is based on the Valentine Heart Pattern I put on these keds, go to the Spoonflower blog and click on the link to vote. There are three pages to go through which are randomly shuffled so I can't give you a specific page. Look for the Valentine Heart Pattern by heartaday and click on the image.

Abstract Autumn Keds
I was playing around with a doodle I made last fall using the Zazzle workshop to make custom Keds. I was just trying to see how it worked. Little did I know how cool these would turn out! If I saw these in a shoe store I'd be all over them!

Brigid's Candle
I'm lucky enough to be well connected to the energies of the Celtic Goddess and Saint, Brigid. I'd heard of her but never paid much attention until one night I felt a big presence in front of me and her name popped into my head. If ever there was a calling, that was it. I don't think it's an accident that she is equally revered by pagans and Irish Catholics, because I am equal parts of both earth centered spirituality and my Christian roots.
She has a feast day which is all one of the lesser pagan holidays, Candlemas or Imbolc. It is a day of candles and a sense of the earth starting to wake up after a long winter. Here in east-central Iowa spring is a faint glimmer at the beginning of February but the sun is noticeably stronger, the finches and cardinals start singing their mating songs, and the sap starts to rise in the maples. This is really my most holy holiday although I don't always celebrate it as much as I'd like to.
This simple little candle drawing is my homage to Brigid. May she light your path as well.
